Electrician slapped with fraud charges

first_imgAn electrician was on Tuesday slapped with multiple counts of fraud when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.Neil Benjamin, 51, is facing charges which allege that between December 30, 2012 and January 30, 2016, at Kaneville Avenue, Georgetown, he obtained .5 million from Erick Jones by falsely pretending that he had a contract with the Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL), property of Menza Samuels.Additionally, it is alleged that between January 2013 and June 2013, he unlawfully obtained .4M from Henry Jones by falsely pretending to have a contract with Gafoors, property of Menza Samuels.Another charge alleged that between August 30, 2013 and November 25, 2013, at Lot 293 Kaneville Avenue, Georgetown, he unlawfully obtained .3 million from Erick Jones by falsely pretending to have a contract with the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), property of Menza Samuels.The final charge against Benjamin alleged that between November 28, 2014 and March 20, 2014, he obtained 0,000 from Erick Jones by falsely pretending to have a contract with HBTV (Channel 9), property of Menza Samuels.The defendant was remanded to prison and the case will continue on July 27.last_img
